Water Collection Area
Water comes down the road along the grass curb and runs into this 12' rockbed covering the trench that contains two 4" perforated corregated pipes at the bottom. The two perforated pipes connects to a 4" solid corregated pipe that runs under the driveway to a pop-up emitter.
60 foot drain
The distance from this pop-up emitter to the start of the 12' water collection rockbed is 60' and the total amount of drop is 45".

The road in front of this property runs downhill and it tilts toward the property. The rain comes to this side of the road and runs down along the natural grass curb to the driveway where it washes it out creating a large rut.

We installed a 12' open French Drain using two 4" perforated pipes connected to a 4" solid pipe that runs under the driveway. The water exits the pipe through a pop-up emitter. This system will catch all the water before it gets to the driveway, which will prevent it from being washed out.

Installing a larger culvert would have created new problems, so this open French Drain was the least invasive system to use in this situation.

Unusable Wet Area

This area was unusable because it stayed wet from sub-surface water that had come to the surface. I installed a french drain that dried this area up and can now be walked on and even driven on. The French Drain continually drains the sub-surface water into a small creek.
